5. Opening the emergency exit doors in a non-emergency situation
This is definitely a rule that shouldn’t be broken because the doors are only opened by the plane’s personnel. An airline loses time and money by deploying an emergency escape slide when there isn’t actually an emergency, and it also delays the rest of the passengers. Upon landing in Kiev in September 2020, a passenger on Ukraine International Airlines felt a little warm. She opened the emergency exit since she had the urge for a walk and headed out onto the wing. Despite the fact that an emergency slide wasn’t deployed, the airline nonetheless took this seriously. Due to her behavior onboard and violation of aviation safety regulations, the passenger was ultimately placed on the airline’s blacklist.
So next time, when you’re a bit warm during the flight, make sure you ask for air conditioning in case it’s not open. After all, you don’t want to be permanently banned from flying with that airline just because it’s a hot summer day, right?
