Televisions

If you’re one of those persons who missed their chance of scoring a post-Christmas TV deal, I tell you it’s not too late to find a good deal this month. March is actually the second-best month (after November) to buy a new TV, if you really need a one, of course, says Julie Ramhold, consumer analyst with DealNews.com.

“The reason we tend to see so many TV deals in March is that manufacturers are getting ready to release new models, so retailers are trying to clear out old stock,” Ramhold says.

“It also could have to do with the fact that March isn’t exactly known for deals—it’s kind of lacking in that department, so some stores will offer deals just to boost sales during a slow time.”

However, the prices won’t be as great as they were around Black Friday, but you can still score a good deal. Keep an eye out at Dell, because it often bundles gift cards with its TV deals, making these sales even more appealing, Ramhold says. Also, don’t forget about the Samsung Flat 65-inch Ultra HD Smart TV.

Cruises

March is wrapping up what’s known as “wave season” in the cruise travel industry, so it’s a great time to book a cruise trip, according to Ramhold.

“It’s actually called ‘wave season’ because agencies experience a wave of bookings from January to March,” she says.

You’ll find cruises offering rates as low as $235 per person, and there will be many four-night cruises to warm places like Cuba and Cozumel. Don’t miss your chance to find a good deal if you’re planning to travel this spring. Also, if you want something for a longer period of time, expect seven-night cruises from New York City to the Bahamas, for only $698 for two, adds Ramhold.

Luggage

March brings even more good deals n luggage than February, April, or May, so it’s the perfect moment to buy a new one even if you’re not planning a vacation anytime soon, Ramhold suggests.

The prices are too good to be missed. Simple day packs could be as low as $4 while a hard-side luggage set will go for as little as $88 from some brands. Samsonite will most likely have a sale by taking up to 50% off, and there will be many other extra discounts. Additionally, if you like shopping on eBay, you can expect a discount of an extra 15% off.

“Luggage is likely going on sale because of the summer months of travel ahead, but also again because March is so light on holidays and therefore deals and sales in general,” Ramhold says.

St. Patrick’s Day sales

There aren’t many retailers that will choose to brand a sale around this holiday, but there should still be some to check out.

“Last year we saw sales from Dell Refurbished Store, which took 40 percent off any item and offered free shipping to boot,” Ramhold says.

“Plus, Vudu took 50 percent off select downloads, and DiscountMags offered 1-year subscriptions for as little as $5.”

Winter sports gear

The winter sports season is about to end, so this is the perfect time to look for deals at your favorite outdoor store because March is the month when they try to clear the shelves to prepare for the new collections suitable for the warm weather hobby products.

“Last March, Dick’s Sporting Goods knocked an extra $20 off select $100 orders and Backcountry hosted a winter clearance sale that took up to 60 percent off,” Ramhold says.

“Backcountry also heavily discounted specific brands, so it was a good time to shop things like The North Face and Patagonia.” Currently, you’ll find this stylish and warm North Face Women’s jacket for 40 percent off at Dick’s.

Mattresses, especially those floor samples, are a great item to buy at a considerable discount this month, as retailers bring new mattress models in the stores soon. So if you missed your chance during Black Friday or President’s Day sales, n worries, not it’s the perfect time to find the mattress you wanter for so long at a very great deal.

“Another bonus: the stores will be more likely to let those floor samples go now,” says Kimberly Palmer, personal finance expert at NerdWallet.

Party supplies

Even if you don’t have a party coming up soon, you can still put your hand on some party supplies on a price so low you couldn’t say no to. Head to the party stores post-St. Patrick’s day, and you’ll find good deals, Palmer says.

While you’re there, choose everything colored in green. Retailers like Amazon and J.C. Penney usually have sales for the St. Patrick’s Day essentials, so all the green things or covered in four-leaf clovers will be on sale in the days leading up to the holiday.

Also, expect to see larger disposal deals after the holiday passes. Try this fun Goer Metallic TInsel Foil Fringe Curtains as a background for your DIY photo booth.
