Heart problems
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in both men and women in the United States, causing about 1 in 4 deaths, according to the CDC. It can open the door to many other problems such as atherosclerosis, a narrowing, and hardening of the arteries caused by a buildup of fatty deposits, cholesterol and other substances.
The annual heart disease costs in the United States were estimated at $351.2 billion in 2014-2015, with $213.8 billion in direct costs, including 46% for inpatient care, according to a report of the American Heart Association. The same report estimated that the costs will increase to $389 billion by 2030.
