Never brag about how much you make on social media

Many people do it and then complain they’ve received hateful comments or worse, that they’ve been robbed. Why put yourself in any of those situations? Whether you’re on the Forbes’ list or a simple working-class guy, you should not share your financial status with just about everyone on social media.

No one is interested in how much money you make, the latest car you’ve bought or the luxurious vacations you go to. The lesson here: Keep it to yourself!

 

Never purchase a house without knowing its full cost

Buying a house doesn’t involve only mortgage payments. There are many other house-related costs that might not be as obvious and clear. “People tend to only look at the payment amount and not consider the other costs that come with homeownership, such as needed repairs and ongoing maintenance, differing utility bills than their previous place and possible tax increases,” said Josh Elledge of personal finance website SavingsAngel.

“Make sure that you factor in those costs above the monthly mortgage payments,” he added. “Otherwise, one especially hot summer or a minor accident backing out of the garage, and you’re piling up additional debt on a credit card to get by.”
