5 Ways To Spot A Fake Review On Websites

1. Pay attention

You can find fake reviews on every website that exists: hotels, restaurants, books, makeup, electronics, skincare products and the list can go on. Look closely at that review you are suspicious about, click on the profile and take notice if that person posted several reviews lately. If there are many posted in a short period of time, you guessed it: it’s fake.

If the text is completely positive or negative, this is a certain sign that the review is not an honest one.

Also, something that I didn’t mention is that the reviews can be written by artificial intelligence as well, but the same rule applies: frequency and the nature of the review – completely positive or negative.

2. Punctuation and grammar

If the review is written completely in all caps, with poor grammar and a lot of exclamation points at the end of every phrase, you don’t even need to think about it, because it is absolutely fake.

It is already hard to take these reviews in consideration when you see the way the are constructed, let alone the credibility.

Just skip this type of content and go to the next review.

Pro tip: If a review like this is endorsing a product, don’t click on it and especially don’t buy it, because it’s a scam for sure!

3. Positivity and negativity

We’ve already discussed that, but now we will dive in a little deeper.

When it comes to a product, usually, people will find some pros and cons, not just one of them. So, when they treat a product like it is God himself, it’s an alarm sign.

There has to be something they are not ok with, either is the price, the benefits or something like that.

The same rule applies when the review is completely negative. Sometimes, these indicators can be combined and the result will be a review that it is poorly written, with a lot of exclamation points and that is also making recommendation, giving a link to another product.
