Healthcare has been a leading issue in this nation for decades… Where does Harris stand?
During her presidential run, Kamala Harris put forth a health care plan that adopted elements of a “Medicare for all” model without eradicating private health insurers. She estimated the complete transition to the plan would take about a decade.
She wrote in a Medium post summarizing her position, stating that she understood the American health care system is a patchwork of providers, plans, and costs that have left many powerless, frustrated, and at the hands of the insurance companies.
Her bottom line was that health care simply costs too much. So, under her plan, anyone could choose health care plans based on Medicare Advantage, but they would be managed by private insurance companies rather than the government.
Basically, private insurance companies would have to offer a plan in the Medicare system, but they would be subject to stringent requirements to ensure it expands services and lowers costs. She essentially declared that they either play by “our” rules or they’re out!
