Health experts are concerned that the resumption of normal global travel will increase the chances of mutated variants being brought back to countries that are free of COVID-19 cases. For this reason, GAVI, the worldwide vaccine alliance, has pointed out the need to eliminate the virus globally, based on the idea that “nobody is safe until everyone is safe.”
Their recommendation (and warning) is not to travel in a post-pandemic world without countries getting their populations vaccinated as quickly and as efficiently as possible. Otherwise, “we will possibly see an unrelenting progression of COVID-19,” GAVI says.
