Things You Should Never Do On Public Transportation

  • sneezing without covering your mouth – this is a “no-no” when it comes to public spaces, and it is also unsafe to do around other people. Don’t allow your germs to affect other people’s health, because you won’t like it when someone does the same thing to you either.
  • reading a broadsheet paper – first of all, holding a broadsheet paper that is the same size as the full map of the United Kingdom is surely uncomfortable, but that is not all. In addition to that, holding a newspaper like that will make you occupy another two seats besides yours.
  • volume too high – it doesn’t matter if you have headphones or not, people around you can still hear your music if the volume is too high. Instead of annoying anyone near you, keep the volume lower. This way, you will enjoy your favorite songs, and the other passengers won’t be bothered.
  • leaning on the pole – unfortunately, there are not that many seats for everybody to sit down when riding public transportation. The poles that are placed strategically in buses, for example, are there as anchors for people who don’t have a seat. When somebody behaves like the whole pole is just for them it’s simply annoying and disrespectful.
  • not giving your seat to those in need – yes, I know you might be tired, hungover, wearing heels, or carrying around a 15-pound bag, but there are people who need that seat more than you do. For example, a pregnant lady, who may be even more tired and sick than you are. Or some older people, who might benefit from sitting down for a few minutes.
