In 1810, when Prince Ludwig married, he wanted to throw a party and invited all Bavarians to have fun with him. And this is how the party became an annual event known by the name of Oktoberfest.

Because it’s usually warmer in September, the events start this month and end on the first Sunday of October to keep the name in place.
