6. The Company Men (2010)
A film with main characters played by Tommy Lee Jones, Ben Affleck, and Chris Cooper can’t be a bad one! “The Company Men” sets the plot around some corporate workers that are in danger because their company is planning to downsize. By this time, everybody is worried about their future, and they are trying to find a solution to the problem. Thousands of employees will take the hit, and the most affected one is Bobby Walker. This is the character around whom the film is practically focused, and he has to face the consequences of being unemployed. Starting with a self-esteem that has been gradually changed and his family’s lifestyle that will never be the same, Bobby must deal with a lot of nasty stuff. A good life lesson I learned after watching this show is that “it’s never really too late to start over”.
Despite the fact that this movie was made in 2010, the economic situation in the story resembles that of America’s recent one.
