This may sound weird, but a lot of people make this mistake. Don’t pack all the important travel documents in your suitcase. You should always keep your boarding pass, ID, and passport with you. If you have a handbag, you can put them all in there. Keep everything easily accessible!

All of the aforementioned can be avoided if you can take a train instead. No getting to the station hours beforehand, no security checks, no drinking before hand. etc. Just show up at the station five minutes before train time, board train and go.
