Food delivery
With shelter in place orders all over the country, restaurant owners had to adapt to the situation to save their business. With people stuck inside their homes, the only way to grab something quick to eat, was to order takeout and even groceries.
The pandemic more than doubled the revenues of delivery apps, with people spending significantly more on food delivery than in 2019. Companies such as Uber Eats, Postmates, GrubHub and DoorDash made around $5.5 billion in combined revenue from April through September, more than twice as much as their combined revenue during the same period in 2019.
By the end of 2020, DoorDash, the industry leader’s worth on the market reached $50 billion.
