Have you ever watched the classic video called “Let’s Learn Judo with Vladimir Putin”? It is an 82-minute DVD from 2008, where the Russian president shows his fans some judo moves.
He is considered to be a judo champion in Saint Petersburg, his hometown, so no wonder he has a black belt in judo. The video was released in collaboration with several judo fighters, such as Yasuhiro Yamashita, who is a former Olympic and world champion in this type of martial arts.
A few years later, in 2012, Putin tried another variant of martial arts, called sambo. Given the fact that he performed very well, the International Judo Federation gave him a high-ranking 8th Dan, which is considered as one of the most important grades that ever exists.
