as a military “Brat”, California was our second longest Duty Station, and it wasn’t as bad back then, early sixties,….
I did return and visit a few years back,…. people sleeping on the sidewalks,…. nastiness everywhere,…. unfriendliness everywhere,…. Crime everywhere, even out in the county where I had lived, the place was awful, the roads are awful, the air is “visible”, and residents are paying the highest taxes in the nation just to exist there, in the highest crime rates, and that was just San Diego, I didnt even try to go up to sad francisco, I just turned and headed for Yuma the closest border exit, and sighed in relief when I got there.
