Social Security card
Losing important documents that contain sensitive information is always a problem. Like the Social Security card which can provide valuable information for identity thieves and ‘help’ them get loans or credit cards in your name.
Consequently, specialists recommend that you never keep your Social Security card or a piece of paper with the Social Security number on it, in your wallet. This also applies to your spouse or your children’s Security numbers.
The new practice is for the SSN to no longer appear on newly issued driver’s licenses, state ID cards, and motor-vehicle registrations. If you have an old-type ID with your Social Security number on it, you can ask to replace it with a new one as soon as possible.
Another thing you should verify is your check. Many elderly people have their Social Security number imprinted on their checking account checks and use them as a form of ID.
Next, you should put your wallet on a diet…..
