Supermarket employees are working very hard at personal risk
While you’re cooped up in your home, supermarket employees go to work every day, putting themselves at risk as they come into contact with hundreds or thousands of people who may be infected with the coronavirus but not show any symptoms.
Therefore, many stores have decided to close shops early so that employees have plenty of time to sanitize the store, replenish stock and, of course, rest. Others are installing clear screens to protect checkout clerks and encouraging customers to pay by contactless credit cards whenever possible.
How can you help? By complying with the social distancing rules, washing your hands as instructed and saying a simple “thank you” when you check out or notice an employee restocking the grocery aisle. In these difficult times, every kind word matters.
