Costco may not be the first place you think of in relation to your organic needs but you might be missing out.
Firstly, the warehouse club has eclipsed Whole Foods as the number one seller of organic food, selling around $4 billion in organic foods every year. Secondly, we did a price check on organic products and came up with interesting results (from our comparison): A 16-ounce container of Earthbound Farm organic spring salad mix is $4.39 (unit price: 27 cents per ounce) at Costco, while a four-ounce bag of brand spring salad mix is $1.99 (unit price: 50 cents per ounce) at Whole Foods. A two-dozen carton of Costco’s Kirkland Signature Grade A large organic brown eggs is $6.99 while an 18-count carton of Safeway’s O Organics Grade A large organic brown eggs, costs $7.69.
Not only that, if you wish to buy staple products such as organic milk, you could save quite a lot by buying it in bulk, given that organic milk lasts longer anyway.
