You can save money at restaurants

If you want to take your significant other out for lunch or dinner, go to IHOP and Denny’s and enjoy their 55+ menus or to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. where AARP members have a 10 percent discount.

If you are part of the AARP, you can also find reasonable prices and 10 percent discounts at Outback Steakhouse. Many more restaurants participate in similar programs, therefore do an internet search the next time you plan on going out to eat and find the restaurant that suits your needs and preferences.

You can visit your local library

If you lacked the time to enjoy a good book during your working life, you can now take advantage of your newfound free time to visit your local library and catch up on your reading. Public libraries offer a myriad of resources for seniors, including book readings, book clubs, research opportunities and the like.

Many of these institutions, such as the Los Angeles Public Library, also have adult literacy programs where you can volunteer to teach others how to read.
