No more recycling and trash collection

One of the tasks of flight attendants during flights was to collect items from passengers, for recycling purposes. Well, in light of the coronavirus pandemic, this will no longer happen. Flight attendants will no longer recycle items that have touched the mouths of passengers, in the attempt “to reduce touching passenger-handled materials.” Alaska Airlines has already eliminated this service, and other airlines might soon do the same.

In addition, to keep flight attendants away from contaminated food and beverage containers, Alaska Airlines as well as other companies have started using non-touch trash carts and allow passengers to dispose of their trash by themselves.
