Amazon and the headquarters backlash
In 2018, the largest e-commerce company in the world caused a public outcry when it announced its expansion plans and moving its headquarters in New York and a suburb of Washington D.C.
This sparked instant dissatisfaction among New Yorkers who considered New York is expensive and crowded enough and a smaller city would better benefit from the newly created facilities and jobs. At the beginning of 2019, Amazon gave up its plans of expansion to New York.
