1. Don’t be afraid to negotiate
One of the golden rules of garage sales is definitely negotiation, because most sellers will set the price higher than the item usually costs, knowing that a lot of people will try to negotiate it down as much as possible. And because it might sound like a hassle, a lot of people are avoiding the process of negotiation. But by using a few “catch” phrases, you might be able to score a better price. Also, leave your Sunday clothes at home and wear something cozy that doesn’t look that expensive since a lot of sellers are carefully watching their customers. If you look like you can afford the initial price, they won’t leave room for negotiation.
Ask the seller nicely about the items you seem interested in. Don’t forget to ask questions about how old they are or how long they have had them lying around in their home. This way, you will know how much they are worth and how much you’re willing to pay for them.
In the end, don’t be afraid to walk away. A lot of sellers will come after you if they really want to sell the product. Tell them how much you want to pay for it, and if they don’t want to negotiate, simply leave.
