  1. Iowa

Average monthly premium: $459

Average silver deductible: $3,500

Iowa is one of the states with the most affordable healthcare costs, although, compared to the previous year, there has been a significant increase. Even though premiums for single coverage health insurance plans increased by at least 57 percent in the last two years, Iowa residents still have a relatively low monthly premium compared to other states in the country, according to Des Moines Register.

  1. Kansas

Average monthly premium: $452

Average silver deductible: $3,500

Kansas has managed to snatch the 9th place in our top due to the low average monthly premiums, cheaper in 2020 than in 2019. Although Kansas is among the few states that have not adopted ACA’s Medicaid expansion, only 9 percent of Kansas’ 2.8 million population do not have any medical coverage.

  1. Oregon

Average monthly premium: $465

Average silver deductible: $2,813

Oregon implemented the Medicaid coverage expansion under ACA (Obamacare) in 2014 and enrollment has increased by more than 60 percent since then. Currently, Oregon is one of the states with the lowest average silver deductibles, with around 95 percent of the state’s population with coverage for medical benefits, according to Oregon Public Broadcasting.
