It’s the job of every salesperson to tell you the things you want to hear. And most people want to hear about cheap investments and big profits.
However, if an investment seems too good to miss, that’s because it probably is. If your conversation with an advisor or financial promoter consists only of words such as “huge profit” or “incredible upside with no risk”, these might all be warning signs of a bad investment. Do your research on typical returns on investments to avoid false promises, as the Securities and Exchange Commission suggests.
