7. Uhuru Kenyatta
It’s not just European leaders who are getting hot under the collar, questions are being asked about leaders in Africa too, the current president of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, being one of them. The son of Jomo Kenyatta, Kenya’s first president, he was elected to the top office in 2013 and like Ukraine’s Zelenskiy, he was quick to use anti-corruption as a platform for gaining power.
He was once quoted as saying, “Every public servant’s assets must be declared publicly so that people can question and ask: what is legitimate?” So, the question he and his family have to answer is why they have amassed more than $30m of offshore wealth, including property in London. Answers he has yet to give despite being asked by journalists.
