Will Prince William become Prince of Wales?

Prince William will automatically take on his father’s former title, followed by a ceremony known as the Investiture of the Prince of Wales. Meanwhile, the line of succession will instantly change.

William’s son Prince George will be the second in line to the throne, followed by Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Then, Prince Harry is the fifth in line to the throne, followed by his son Archie and daughter Lilibet, as the sixth and seventh respectively.

Will Duchess Kate be the Princess of Wales?

Whether she drops her current status as Duchess of Cambridge and inherits Princess Diana’s former title, as Princess of Wales, is entirely up to Kate.

While Camilla had all the rights to go with that title, she still chose to be known as Duchess of Cornwall, given that the Princess of Wales title is still associated with Diana.
