Scam phone calls
Soon after the HHS issued their alert, a scam call that offered people a chance to skip the lines and get early access to the Pfizer vaccine for $79.99 was reported by WROC-TV in Rochester, New York. The FBI warned that scammers will most likely ask for a down-payment for early shots of the vaccine and public health officials reiterated that people “will not be asked for money to enhance ranking for vaccine eligibility.”
Scammers usually succeed in stealing people’s money by forcing them to make quick decisions on the phone, not allowing them to mull things over. If you do receive a phone call in which you are asked for money or personal information, the best thing you can do is to hang up and report the incident.
