10. Norway
Also on the 12th of March, Norway entered the top ten list of most affected countries when their number of confirmed Covid-19 cases increased rapidly to 800 and their first confirmed death.
With the addition of Norway, the number of European countries among the top ten reached six signifying how intensely the EU is affected by Covid-19.
The Norwegian government have taken swift and decisive measures by locking down the country for 14 days and other measures such as banning public events, and closing schools and universities, restaurants and bars to arrest the coronavirus transmissions.
11. Japan
The Japanese are no strangers to viral outbreaks but many government officials fear this Covid-19 coronavirus could impact their fragile economy harder than the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) outbreak of 2003.
However, there has been some promising news as reported cases of Covid-19 are decreasing moving the country out of the top ten countries with coronavirus.
Japan was among the countries that reported first coronavirus cases early following the Wuhan outbreak. Their handling of the outbreak on board the Diamond Princess cruise ship has been widely criticised.
Excluding those 696 cases reported on the cruise ship, the country itself has reported 691 Covid-19 cases as of 12 March and had 19 deaths so far.
