You’d think it came from France based on the name “croissant,” right? But you are wrong. Our favorite breakfast food has its origins in Austria. Who knew? This type of pastry that is usually amazing when it’s freshly baked was created in Vienna, Austria, in the 12th century. A long while ago!

It was first made in the monastery bakeries, and it was baked to celebrate Easter. Cool, right? Nowadays, the recipe has changed a bit and our beloved croissant has a filling or even fruit in it. Delicious!
