1. Ellen DeGeneres
Ellen DeGeneres, a comedian loved by millions of people, is one of those dropouts. She ended her studies at the University of New Orleans after less than a semester, because it wasn’t interesting for her.
After she left school, Ellen started to work in customer service positions or in restaurants, all while she was performing at stand up nights at some coffee shops and local clubs.
In 1981, Ellen was hired by a local comedy club. After that she went to tours for many years and in 1986, she appeared on the Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. And now, Ellen has one of the most appreciated talk shows: “The Ellen Show”.
2. Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs, the co-founder of the Apple, dropped out of the Reed College, Portland, after only studying there for a semester. In 1991, when he was giving a speech at the school, he said that he ran out of money.
Money or not, Steve Jobs made his legacy when he became the CEO of Apple.
3. Mark Zuckerberg
Mark Zuckerberg launched an early version of Facebook when he was only 19 and still a student. The idea behind the platform was the fact that he wanted to create something to help his classmates remember each other’s names.
After his sophomore year, Zuckerberg decided to drop out of Harvard University and focus all of its attention on Facebook. We can say it really turned out well for him, considering the fact that even cats and dogs have Facebook accounts nowadays.
