With movie theaters closed in March, ticketing websites such as Ticketmaster saw a dramatic drop of 81 percent while movie theaters suffered a 93 percent drop, compared to 2019. According to a report published in October 2020, consumers switched to more streaming services, the numbers per customer rising to seven different streaming services like Netflix and Hulu, compared to five earlier in April. The gaming industry also saw a rise in revenue with platforms such as Twitch, PlayStation or Xbox increasing their profits by 37 percent.
