1. Beyoncé

During Beyoncé’s journey to fame, Matthew Knowles, her father was not the easiest man to work it. When she was part of the group Destiny’s Child (earlier named Girls Tyme and then The Dolls), the man received a lot of money for managing the music group.

During the singer’s childhood, Knowles would constantly leave his wife for some time, returning to the family later. That happened until his wife, Tina, decided to divorce.

Tina Knowles filed for divorce in 2009, a month after it was revealed that Matthew and Alexsandra Wright had an illegitimate kid. Queen B stated in 2011 that she was parting ways with her father as her manager.

In 2013, she discussed her tumultuous connection with Matthew with Oprah Winfrey. Fans claimed that parts of Beyoncé’s infidelity songs on her “Lemonade” album were about her father rather than her husband Jay Z. “Daddy Lessons” was the track in question.

2. Adele

When Adele accepted her Grammy in 2017 for Record of the Year for “Hello”, she revealed on stage that she doesn’t get along with her father, Mark Evans.

During her speech, she thanked her manager, Jonathan Dickins, saying that he is like a father to her. Adele said that she doesn’t love her father, but she loves her manager just as she would’ve cared for her dad.

In 2011, Mark Evans had an interview with The Sun, where he stated that after his father passed away in 1999, he started to drink two liters of vodka and several pints of beer every day. He admitted that he is sorry because he wasn’t there for his daughter, who was close to her grandfather.

3. Macaulay Culkin

Macaulay Culkin, the little blond boy who makes you laugh every Christmas when you watch “Home Alone”, doesn’t have a healthy relationship with his father, Kit Culkin.

After being in a relationship for two decades and having seven children together, his parents, Patricia Brentrup and Kit Culkin decided to split.

Their custody battle was particularly arduous since they were fighting not only over their children but also over who would manage their famous and wealthy son’s career.

Patricia accused her ex-partner of “drunkenness, unfaithfulness and a violent reign of terror”. It looks like she is not the only one, because, in conformity with New York Magazine, Macaulay stated that his father used to control their family by humiliation and physical abuse.

Since the court case, Macaulay and his father have been estranged. “I don’t consider [Macaulay] a son anymore”, Kit told the Daily Mail in 2016.
