1. You’re too competitive
Are you a competitive person? While a little friendly competition can be fun and exciting, turning everything into rivalry won’t make your friend feel comfortable. Whether it’s about relationships, careers, or even hobbies, constantly trying to one-up them is a surefire recipe for a fallout.
Everyone wants to be the best and feel like they have it all together, but competition shouldn’t be the focal point of a friendship. It creates unnecessary tension and unhealthy comparisons.
A great relationship is about supporting and uplifting each other, not turning everything into a competition. If someone you care about shares exciting news, resist the urge to immediately one-up them with a “better” story.

2. You’re always complaining
We all need to vent sometimes. We don’t need solutions or advice; we just want to complain. Am I right? 3. You constantly criticize them

4. You don’t listen well or interrupt

5. You don’t respect boundaries

6. You’re always late (or cancel plans last minute)
Here’s another friendship faux pas: always being late or canceling plans last minute. Don’t take it the wrong way – while everyone understands the occasional emergency or delay, it can be frustrating when it happens regularly.
Being late can signal that you don’t value your friend’s time, and constant cancellations can make them feel like your friendship isn’t important. If you always do these things, don’t be surprised if they stop inviting you altogether!
At the end of the day, being reliable ensures you maintain a strong connection and helps you stay accountable!
7. You never initiate plans
Are you the friend who’s always waiting for an invite? You’d better take the initiative too because it’s not pleasant for the people you love! Friendships need mutual efforts to thrive, but if you’re never reaching out, they might start feeling like you don’t care enough.
You probably enjoy spending time with them, so make sure they know it! Invite them for a coffee meet-up, send a quick text, give them a call (even if just for 5 minutes), or plan something fun together. It doesn’t have to be anything crazy; just a simple check-in can make a huge difference in your relationship!
It’s never about keeping score, but if the effort is always one-sided, the people you love might start pulling away.
8. You hold grudges over small things
No friendship is perfect, and misunderstandings are more likely to happen. If you find yourself dwelling on small offenses or bringing up past mistakes often, your friend might feel a bit uneasy around you.
It’s so much better for everyone if you can let go of those little grudges and talk things through in a friendly way! It might be uncomfortable, but it’s way better because open and honest conversations about what bothers you really help strengthen your friendships.
Holding onto negativity over minor things can create distance between you and the people you love, and it’s never pleasant. So, try to be forgiving and keep in mind that nobody, not even you, is perfect.
