Blank checks
It might seem old school, but there are a lot of people out there still writing checks. If we were to listen to our parents’ advice, we should all be carrying a blank check in our wallets in case of emergencies. Worst advice ever.
That’s because blank checks are not safe. One reason would be that blank checks can be easily used by anyone to withdraw money from your bank account. Moreover, even if the check is not physically used, your bank account details and routing numbers are written on it, which means money can still be drained electronically.
On top of that, a blank check usually has the home address and even Social Security numbers added on it. Need we say more?
What to do: Leave your checkbook at home and take with you only the checks you know you need for sure.
You should pass on keeping this next one in your wallet…..
