Spare keys
As if losing your wallet is not enough, a wallet with your spare house keys in it and IDs with your home address is like an open invitation for thieves to make an unwanted visit to your place. Even if thieves robbing your house is the worst-case scenario, in another scenario you’d still have to have a locksmith change the locks and pay for his services.
Security experts advise people to avoid jeopardizing their properties and families by keeping their spare keys with a relative or friend, not in their wallets. This way, if you are ever locked out, you have someone to call for help in retrieving your backup key.
Or, even better, use modern technologies and forget the standard keys. There are now plenty of smart lock options for your home. Such technologies allow you to lock and unlock the front door by using a keypad or an app. Your door can also be locked/unlocked remotely and in some cases, you might also have the opportunity to create a digital key for one-time use, should you need to let in certain people, for example, housekeepers.

For sticking to a budget, and putting something away in savings, use of cash is the best policy. You will not spend more than you had planned if you bring along the appropriate amount of cash plus only a “little” extra, and vow to keep the credit cards for emergencies. There is also the aspect of the tangible quality of cash that has a much greater impression on the spender who is trying to be thrifty, as many seniors should be, compared to the ease with which a consumer can rack-up debt with electronic currency or credit cards.
The new Medicare cards do NOT have SSNs on them.
It is easy to ask your bank to remove your address from your personal checks.
