The mugshots of alleged presidential assassin Lee Harvey Oswald taken at the Dallas Police Department on November 23, 1963. Initially he was arrested for the murder of police officer J. D. Tippit, who was killed on a Dallas street approximately 45 minutes after President Kennedy was shot.
Despite denying shooting anybody and claiming to ‘just be a patsy’ Ozwald would later be charged with the murder of Kennedy.
In this black and white photograph we can see a clear cut on the left side of his forehead and that his right eye is bruised. When asked by a reporter “How did you hurt your eye?”, Oswald simply replied, “A policeman hit me.”
